At Coastal 2 Caribbean Travel LLC, our mission goes beyond vacations

— it’s about inclusion, joy, and community.

‍ ‍ “Our roots and heart are in supporting families of all abilities, including those with special needs.”

Currently we have a volunteer group within the Albany NY Capital Region and surrounding areas.

Our ASN Network— commonly known as Autism Special Needs Social & Adventure Group was created (Currently serving the 518 Capital Region Areas of New York State) to provide children, adults, and families of all abilities, with added love and support for special needs families. We want to provide safe, supported, and exciting experiences in our community.

While our ASN Network is thoughtfully designed with special needs families in mind, we warmly welcome all who share our values of inclusivity and understanding.

We kindly ask that every member of our Social & Adventure Group approaches this space with respect, kindness, and an open mind. This is a judgment-free, inclusive environment where families can come together to explore both indoor and outdoor experiences.

Our community is built on the understanding that every individual is unique. Some disabilities may not be visible to the eye, in fact many disabilities are not. Some may experience challenges or express themselves differently than others—and that’s okay. Even if something is unfamiliar, we encourage all members to lead with compassion, remain welcoming, and foster a supportive atmosphere for everyone.

We encourage families to use this space as an opportunity to teach their children that differences are not only accepted—they are celebrated. You never truly know another person’s journey. A child taking slow, careful steps at an event may be accomplishing something their family was once told might never be possible. Moments like these are deeply meaningful, and we ask that everyone lead with patience, kindness, and understanding.

Every individual grows at their own pace and navigates life in their own way—and here, that journey is always respected and embraced. We celebrate the small victories just as much as the big ones, and we invite you to be part of that spirit.

We are also happy to educate families who want to better understand what they may see or experience during our events. For some, this may be their first exposure to things like sensory sensitivities, meltdowns and behavioral differences, or medical equipment some use. While these experiences may feel unfamiliar at first, understanding brings comfort and acceptance.

A way you could ask for more understanding from a parent/guardian who you may connect with at an event could be something like this: I’m always trying to teach my kids about inclusion—would you be open to sharing anything you’d like us to understand better or part of your journey? This will help me teach my children too. What are some of the things your child most enjoys? Is there anything in particular that could upset them or make them uncomfortable?

Parents & Guardians, we encourage you to view this as an opportunity not only to be open and genuine (with kindness), but also to help educate others on what you experience. The more people understand that every journey is different, the more likely they are to respond with patience, compassion, and support.

We know it’s natural to feel protective, but this can also be a powerful moment for your voice to be heard and for others to gain meaningful insight. You are never expected to share more than you’re comfortable with—sometimes even a small bit of general info can help break the ice. You may find that someone asking questions is doing so from a place of concern or uncertainty—perhaps for their own child or a loved one—and is simply seeking understanding or guidance. By sharing even a small piece of your experience—something that may have taken you years to learn, you could help make their journey a little easier. In doing so, you may ease someone’s worries, support their mental well-being, and empower them as a caregiver to better support their own family or friend.

We all have something meaningful to contribute, and together, we help make this network a more understanding, supportive, and inclusive community for everyone.

We encourage questions—but always with kindness and respect. Curiosity is natural, but how we approach it matters. When we don’t fully understand something, it can sometimes come across as judgment, even if that’s not the intention. Please keep in mind, while we all have our own opinions and views on many things, shaming anyone for the way they choose to raise or protect their child is not tolerated. By leading with empathy and openness, we create a space where all families feel safe, supported, and welcomed.

Differences may look unfamiliar—but they are always worthy of acceptance. Together, we can create an environment where every child and adult has the freedom to grow, explore, and enjoy meaningful experiences in a truly inclusive community.

From local outings to inclusive events, we believe everyone deserves the chance to explore, connect, and make memories — without barriers.

Too often, special needs families feel isolated or hesitant to join in on adventures. We wanted to change that. Here, you’ll find community, encouragement, and the gentle nudge to step out and see the world — knowing you have a supportive tribe standing beside you.

“As a mom and special needs community advocate and leader, I’ve seen firsthand how powerful inclusion can be. These moments — laughter, connection, confidence — are what keep families going. Your support helps create those moments for others. Thank you for helping us continue this mission from the heart.”

Brittany Valenza

Founder of The 518 Autism Special Needs Social & Adventure Group A volunteer effort and group ran underneath Coastal 2 Caribbean Travel LLC.

Whether it’s a local outing, a new experience, or simply being surrounded by others who get it, this is your space to belong, to breathe, and to make memories together.

I started this group to bring together parents & caregivers to give them support, and the bravery to adventure out, experience and sightsee. To be able to watch their loved ones experience new things rather than the seclusion and avoidance most special needs families, caretakers and individuals can most often feel.

Have a tribe stand by them~ being their village they needed—that they may not have had.

Thank you for being a part of that!

It truly takes a village, an extra set of hands, eyes and some added kindness in the hearts of others to make a difference in a special needs individual or caregiver
